Third national exhibition - “Bulgarian treasures – Gods, Masks, and Humans” opened its doors on the 30th of April in the regional museum of history in Varna. The minister of culture, Stefan Danailov was an official guest of the event.

74 ancient founds are presented at the exhibition. The treasures date back from 6th to 3th century B.C. The exhibition presents the religious philosophy and the spiritual immortality of Thracians, Hellenes and Romans, who inhabited Bulgarian lands during the Antiquity. The exposition includes some of the master pieces of the ancient art in Bulgaria.
The masks take special place in the exhibition. The mask shows the human will to overcome the mortal nature and to reach divinity. War and parade headpieces, funeral, and theatrical masks are shown in the museum.

The golden mask of the Thracian king Teres is the accent of the exhibition. The mask was found in the “Svetitsata” (The saint) mound in the Valley of the Thracian kings, near Kazanlak. Marble statue of Orpheus and the statue of the goddess Kibela found in Balchik are also the spots of interest at the exhibition.

The National archaeological institute and museum of BAS (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), National museum of history in Sofia, The Regional museums of history in Bourgas, Stara Zagora, Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Pleven, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Silistra, Balchik, Devnya, Svishtov and Petrich are also taking part in the axhebition with their exponents.
